Recovering an old headboard can help change a room scheme and also be cost effective. In a time where we are all being careful with money and also thoughtful towards the environment using what you already have is the obvious choice. If you don't have a headboard already have a look in charity shops, Facebook marketplace and car boot sales.
I picked this headboard up from the charity shop for £2 - bargain.
When searching for fabric there are plenty of money saving options. You can use Old curtains, thick duvet covers, tablecloths or fabric by the metre. Shop around as end of rolls are sometimes sold cheaper.
I bought my fabric from IKEA, I only needed 1 metre which cost £5
Measure the length and the width of the board. Remember to allow extra to go around the edges. I always allow 20cm extra width and length.

What you will need
Headboard
Fabric
Scissors
Tape measure
Screwdriver
Staple gun and staples

Firstly measure your fabric and start at the bottom. Keep the fabric straight and staple along the bottom edge.

When you come to the wooden slates slightly unscrew so you are able to pull the fabric underneath. Staple the fabric and then screw back down.

Once you come to the corners pull tightly and try to keep the fold neat. Staple in place.

Continue all the way around keeping the fabric as tight as possible.

Then attach to the bed

Really happy with this quick update. Not bad for a grand total of £7!
